And Chinedu did.
By the end of his first year, he had earned two scholarships, money he immediately sent home. His parents bought back a bigger piece of land, restarted their business, and rose from poverty with gratitude in their hearts and pride in their eyes.

She was the kind of beauty that made the sun look twice—light-skinned, elegant, always smelling of shea butter and quiet confidence. One hot afternoon in 200-level first semester, Chinedu caught her frowning at a complicated calculation.

She looked up, surprised—then smiled.

By the end of 200-level, Ama had her first straight-A result. She credited him; he credited her brilliance. And when she invited him to her hostel and cooked for him, the night ended with her first kiss.
But like every good story… conflict arrived.
The Friends Who Broke Everything
Ama had three close friends: Tolu, Peju, and the one everyone called “The Odd Girl,” Chioma.
Chioma had sense and sincerity.
The other two? They worshipped wealth like religion.
To them, Chinedu was “a chicken hanging with eagles.”
During Ama’s birthday celebration, her mother met Chinedu and adored him instantly—his humility, his brilliance, his courtesy. But Tolu and Peju had other plans. They invited Obinna Nwokedi, a rich, handsome Lagos big boy from a political family.

The next day, he did.
He told her the truth:
The girl from the convoy was part of a business arrangement. A strategic marriage between wealthy families. She wasn’t his love—she was part of a contract worth billions.
Ama felt robbed—of love, of dignity, of her own foolishness.

Life took them separate ways.
Ama travelled abroad for her master’s degree.
Chinedu moved to Lagos for work and, by divine orchestration, was hired by a man named Chief Briggs—Ama’s father.
But Chinedu never connected the dots.
Years later, after Ama returned with her degree and heartbreak scars, her father invited her to a meeting.
And in walked Chinedu.
“Ama…” he whispered.
She burst into tears, dropped to her knees, begging for forgiveness, shocking her father.
Chinedu gently lifted her.
“You’re my boss now. Stand up. I forgave you long ago.”
When he left the office, Chief Briggs approached him.
“My daughter still loves you. I can see it. I won’t force anything… but don’t you think fate brought you two back together?”
That night, Chief invited him for dinner.
Ama cooked.
